The story of Cal Blay is one of a journey that began more than thirty years ago, but still maintains, today, the same passion for innovation and satisfying our clients through gastronomy. With roots in traditional Catalan cuisine, over the past three decades we have expanded our horizons, embracing experimentation and creativity in our dishes. What started as a small, humble family restaurant, inaugurated in 1982, has transformed into a gastronomic enterprise offering catering services for weddings, events, and wine tourism activities. And throughout it all, we’ve never strayed from our primary purpose: the passion for great food and a commitment to quality gastronomy.

CAL BLAY ORIGINS

3 decades and 2 generations

Cal Blay was born in 1982 as a small family restaurant, founded by a family passionate about traditional Catalan cuisine. Located in Penedès, it has grown to become a benchmark in gastronomy and catering for events and weddings.

Today, Cal Blay continues under the direction of the second generation, combining the experience gained with new ideas and culinary innovation. With a team that shares a passion for quality cuisine and excellent service, the family and their team continue to create unforgettable moments, always maintaining a strong connection with the region and tradition.

Our story: Origins

SINCE 1974

The seed

The Origins of Cal Blay began when Pere Carda and Maria Torner started a new chapter in a landmark building in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, initially offering bar service, planting the seed for this family project.

1982

Cal Blay

The Carda-Torner family, with their four children, opened their restaurant with the goal of offering honest and traditional cuisine, but with a high gastronomic level, focusing on quality and local ingredients.

1989

Growth

With experience that defines the essence of Cal Blay and a clear vision for gastronomy, the company began to expand, bringing traditional cuisine into new business models, including catering services for schools and events.

2000

Catering

With the children now incorporated into the business, a new line of personalized catering services began, specializing in weddings and corporate events. This decision marked a major transformation, evolving from a humble traditional restaurant into a leading company in the field of quality gastronomy.

2006

New Headquarter

A new headquarters was opened in Sant Pere de Riudebitlles, modern and spacious, including the central kitchens, offices, a logistics center, and, most importantly, a space dedicated to culinary research and creativity.

2007

Cal Blay Vinticinc Restaurant

In the heart of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, just a few meters from the original restaurant’s location, Cal Blay Vinticinc was opened. This space, housed in an old modernist winery, offers several rooms and decor inspired by the world of cava.

2015

El Mirador de les Caves

Located in a privileged setting at the foot of Castell de Subirats, with unbeatable views of Penedès, Mirador de les Caves has become the perfect venue for immersive gastronomy in the midst of vineyards.

2018

La Masia d'Esplugues

A historic venue at the entrance to Barcelona reopens under Cal Blay. The space combines tradition with modern culinary details, which are also reflected in the two completely renovated dining rooms.

2020

El Nàutic Vilanova

The most Mediterranean essence at the port of Vilanova i la Geltrú, where we put all our passion into each dish, with special attention to rice dishes, paellas, and grilled fish, always prepared with fresh, top-quality ingredients.

2021

Cal Blay Spotify Camp Nou

The most football-inspired offering from Cal Blay at the FC Barcelona facilities. A space to fully experience the excitement of Barça football and basketball. It becomes the ideal meeting point for sports fans.

Festivals - Cal Blay Foodlovers

The more informal version of Cal Blay was born, serving at festivals, wine pairings, vermouths, and other lively events.

2023

Hotel Boutique Font de la Canya

Cal Blay acquired its first hotel. Surrounded by olive trees and vineyards, Hotel Boutique Font de la Canya has 8 spacious rooms, a large garden, and a charming restaurant. It’s an idyllic space designed for celebrations and events.

Cal Blay Tarraco Arena

Located in the former bullring of Tarragona, Cal Blay Tarraco Arena is a restaurant that specializes in grilled products and a wide variety of tapas that will surely make your mouth water.

Today

With more than 40 years of experience, Cal Blay continues with the same spirit that saw us born: a passion for quality cuisine and attention to detail. Despite having grown with new spaces, more events, and a catering service adapted to today’s needs, we maintain the essence that has defined us since day one.
